Weird is an app for recording and sharing strange experiences — ghosts, UFOs, urban legends — on a map, pinned to the place where they happened. This page tells you how to reach us and answers the questions we hear most often.

Everything reaches us at one address:
Write to us about bugs, inappropriate posts, claims that something infringes your rights, requests to take a post down, and questions about your account. Bug reports are accepted by email only; reporting a bug from inside the app is planned for a future release.
Weird is run by one person. We cannot promise a reply to every message, and replies may take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Reports of inappropriate content and claims of infringement are the exception: we review them within 24 hours of receiving them, and act as described in our Terms of Service.
When you write to us about a problem in the app, these details help us find the cause:
You can report a post from inside the app. Open the experience, swipe up to reveal the action row, tap ⋮, and choose Report. Pick a reason — Privacy violation or Spam — add details if you want, and send. Reporting requires signing in. The person you report is never told who reported them.
If neither reason fits, say so in the details box, or email us at lukiitaengineer@gmail.com. You can also use that address to report a post that breaks the law or our Terms of Service, that harms someone, or that infringes your rights. When you email us, the following helps us find the post quickly:
We review every reported post within 24 hours and remove the ones we find to be in violation. We also delete the account of the person who posted it, ending their access to the app. If you want to change what you see right away, you can also block the person — see below.
Filtered search is part of Weird+, a monthly subscription. Browsing the map, reading experiences, posting and saving drafts, your profile, and following people are all free and need no subscription.
| Name | Weird+ |
|---|---|
| What you get | Search by keyword, tag, weather, date of the experience, distance and trust score, plus sorting by similar experiences, trust score or distance |
| Price | US$1.99 per month, renewing automatically. The price and currency shown on the purchase screen apply to your region and are the ones that count |
| Free trial | 7 days. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you pay nothing |
| How to subscribe | Tap the search icon at the top left of the map. If you are not subscribed, the Weird+ screen appears first; check what you get and the price, then tap "Start free trial". Once the purchase goes through, the app takes you straight to the search screen |
Payment is charged to your Apple ID, and the sale is made by Apple. You do not need to sign in to Weird — you can subscribe while using the app without an account. The full subscription terms are in our Terms of Service.
If you changed devices or reinstalled the app, you may need to restore your purchase. Tap the search icon at the top left of the map to open the Weird+ screen, then tap "Restore purchases". Your device must be signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.
If nothing changes after restoring, please email us.
You cancel in iOS Settings, not in the app:
You can do the same at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. To stop the subscription from renewing, cancel at least 24 hours before the next renewal date. The same applies during the free trial: cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you will not be charged. After canceling, Weird+ stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are decided by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com).
The app still works, but the features that rely on your current position are limited.
| Still available | Browsing the map, reading experiences, posting a past experience or rumor by dropping a pin on the map, drafts, your profile, following people, and search (every filter except distance) |
|---|---|
| Not available | Posting from your current location, the distance filter in search, sorting by distance |
| Map on launch | Instead of centering on you, the map opens wide enough to show all of Japan. At that zoom level the app loads no experiences, so you will see no pins at all. Pan and zoom in on an area you are curious about and the experiences there will appear |
You can change your mind later in Settings → Weird → Location on your iPhone. Weird uses your location only while the app is open; it never tracks you in the background.
Only who you are is hidden. The content of the post is published exactly as it would be otherwise.
| Hidden | Your display name, your user ID and your profile picture. Anonymous posts also stay out of the post list and the post count that other people see on your profile |
|---|---|
| Not hidden | The location of the post (exact coordinates), photos, title, description, your thoughts on the cause, tags, weather, and the date and time of the experience |
The location of an anonymous post appears on the map at its exact coordinates and is visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in. Neither the content nor the location can be changed after posting. Please do not post from your home, your workplace, or anywhere else you would rather keep private. When you post a past experience or a rumor, you can drop a pin on the map instead of using your current location.
Open the person's profile and choose Block from the ⋮ menu to the left of the follow button. You need to be signed in to block someone.
This version of the app cannot delete an individual post, and it cannot edit a post once it is published.
You can do this yourself in the app. Tap the icon at the top right of the map to open your profile, then choose Settings → Delete account. Once you confirm, your posts, photos, profile and follow relationships are deleted, and this cannot be undone.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Weird+ subscription. Cancel it first, using the steps above.
For the full procedure and exactly what is removed, see Deleting Your Account.
| Devices | iPhone (there is no iPad layout). For the iOS versions we support, see the Compatibility section on the Weird page in the App Store |
|---|---|
| Connectivity | An internet connection is required to show the map and to read or write posts. The app does not work offline |
| Languages | Japanese and English. The app follows your device language: Japanese on a device set to Japanese, English everywhere else. There is no language setting inside the app |
